About Asus

With headquarters in Taiwan, Asus is a Taiwanese company that produces smartphones, computers, and electronic components for consumers.

The company has long been known for its top-quality motherboards, laptops, but now it is also experimenting with the future’s most advanced technology. By doing this, they continue to provide customers with incredible experiences.

About Dell

Dell is a company with a history that stretches back to 1984 is probably one of the most recognizable names in the computer industry. Michael Dell founded this American computer technology company.

Since its establishment, the company has made available various technology solutions that have contributed to transforming people’s lives.

Asus vs Dell Comparison

Asus is better than Dell in terms of performance. No brand can compete with ASUS for gaming and graphics tasks. Since its founding, it should not come as a surprise to a company developing graphics and performance hardware.

Besides, ASUS laptops are known for their excellent performance, making them ideal for streaming and browsing the Internet. As a result of ASUS’ approach, the laptops it offers are suitable for many reasons why people own laptops.

On the other hand, if you’re most concerned about build quality, battery life, and slimmer design, Dell’s is a better choice. Dell’s customer service is also far superior to that of Asus.

Gaming Laptops

The best gaming laptop should have a powerful graphics card and handle intense games. Having any lag in a gaming laptop can be game-ending for a player. Therefore, both Asus and Dell have focused on delivering high-end laptops for gamers.

With ASUS’ gaming laptop collection, it is evident that ASUS has dedicated decades to developing hardware for the gaming market. One of the top-quality laptops for gamers by Asus is ROG Zephyrus G15.

The ROG Zephyrus G15 will meet all your gaming requirements. With the fastest NVIDIA and AMD chipsets on the market, the Zephyrus G15 does not lack in any department. The G15 includes a QHD display that runs at 165Hz.

There are other gaming laptops from ASUS that are more suited to gamers than to professionals. It is fair to say that ASUS covers all the bases for gaming, which is why the ASUS name is so dominant in the gaming marketplace.

On the other hand, Dell also makes laptops designed for gamers, with the Dell Alienware M15 laptop at the top of the line. Most people will be happy with the Intel and NVIDIA chips in the Alienware m15.

In terms of sheer power and display aspect, Alienware lags behind ASUS, so enthusiastic gamers may need to adjust a few settings.

So overall, in terms of gaming, ASUS is the winner.

Business Laptops

When it comes to business requirements and needs, Dell outperforms ASUS with less emphasis on graphics and speed. Dell laptops are mostly ideal for business users due to their multitasking capabilities. Dell laptops allow you to run multiple applications simultaneously, such as accounting, spreadsheets, etc.

In addition, they offer fast performance. Dell laptops are lightning-fast when utilizing the processor used. You’ll be able to easily conduct a Zoom call or send an email with Dell.

The best laptop for business purposes that I would recommend is Dell Latitude 7490. The Dell Latitude 7490 offers plenty of options to customize the processor, RAM, and hard drive to meet your needs.

In addition to its impressive battery life, the Dell Latitude 7490 consistently performs well daily without requiring recharging for a longer period. There is no doubt that Dell won the business category.

Studying laptops

Because of the more efficient processing and browsing capabilities of ASUS, it is better suited to students than Dell. It will be ideal to use a laptop such as the ASUS ZenBook 13 daily for students.

For storage, the ZenBook 13 comes with 256GB of SSD hard drive and an i5 processor, and 8GB of RAM. It is more than adequate for all studying tasks. Also, ASUS’ budget laptops have good screens and graphics, making them ideal for students.

Dell Inspiron laptops compete with ASUS in terms of features, but ASUS laptops offer more consistency. The ASUS is the winner for students since it focuses on processing and speed.

Budget Laptops

There are few brands that can outperform ASUS in balancing quality and price. Even cheap ASUS laptops feature Intel Celeron processors and 4GB of RAM.

So, Asus has various budget-friendly laptops to offer for users on a tight budget. On the other hand, Dell also offers a variety of affordable but high-performance laptops.

Design

It is well known that Asus laptops are gorgeous in design. This company designs every model in a stylish and sleek manner. Their products are made of durable materials, which last for years.

There is plenty of light and elegant models that you can choose from, including the ROG Zephyrus and ZenBook. On the other hand, it is unfortunate that Dell laptops come in a very moderate design.

Most of the models by Dell aren’t visually appealing. The company does have a few models that come in bright colors. Those laptops are neither the best nor the worst when it comes to design. If you purchase the top-end models, such as the XPS and Alienware series, you will have more elegant and stylish options.

Build Quality & Hardware

ASUS contains some of the most exceptional hardware on the market. All of ASUS’s products are built with the superior build quality. As a general rule, other brands will often reserve the best quality for the end of their ranges. However, that is not the case, as ASUS prefers to keep the best for the middle of the range.

Despite the budget models, you can browse and use the device with no problems. Because they are designed for specific jobs, ASUS’ specialized laptops have more powerful hardware, such as the ROG series. Overall, Asus laptops are built for lasting performance.

On the other hand, Dell laptops are known for durability and strength. However, you should not make the mistake of thinking that this implies that Dell laptops are also heavy. Instead, the Dell laptop is lightweight and designed to be easily transported.

With Dell, even the brand’s lower-end laptops, like the Inspiron 15, are excellent. Aside from the Intel i3 processor, the Inspiron 15 includes 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. The Inspiron 15 laptop is durable and should last for years with basic usage if it is not constantly pushed to its limits.

However, considering what you will be doing with the laptop will help you select the right model. When choosing a Dell laptop, bear in mind that these machines are built to last a long time, so you want to ensure that you get a model with the right hardware.

Performance

Performance-wise, Asus has always been ahead of Dell. So, it is highly recommended to choose Asus if you seek a laptop with very good performance at an affordable price while sacrificing the quality of the build or customer service.

On the other hand, in terms of performance, Dell is famous for its gaming laptop line “Alienware.” Though they are expensive, they have some of the best specs for high-end tasks. Asus’s top-performing laptops are very similar to them in terms of specs.

Durability

The durability of Dell laptops is what makes them so popular. Unlike some laptop brands, Dell laptops are durable, withstand heavy use, and last for many years. A normal amount of use won’t affect the performance of the laptop.

Your laptop will last years if you plan on using it for the same type of work over and over again. There’s no Dell laptop that’s better in terms of reliability than another.

Rather, the whole Dell line is reliable, and price does not factor into this. There is no way that Dell will let you down on this if durability is incredibly important to you.

On the other hand, Asus laptops are also quite durable. However, the durability of Asus is less compared to that of Dell. Therefore, if you want a more durable unit, you prefer Asus over Dell.

Customer Service & Warranty

Be sure to consider customer support before you buy any brand laptop. It’s disappointing that Asus is not excelling in this department. There are many complaints about how bad the customer support is at Asus.

Many customers complain about the difficulty of using the company’s website in terms of online support. Before you can receive any assistance, you will have to go through the tedious registration process.

In addition, there is no telephone support: you will have to wait for hours before you can speak to someone. Some people have reported losing their laptops when they have to send them back for repair.

Besides, Dell knows how important it is to have a good customer service system, and they do an excellent job of it. Although a few complaints have been made, they are quite reasonable.

Most customers have been satisfied with the support they get. If the company determines a problem with your laptop, the company will assign you a technician who will work with you until the problem is resolved.

Whenever possible, the company uses refurbished parts when repairing laptops. It is clearly stated in the warranty, but some customers have complained about it. Also, both Asus and Dell offer a minimum of 1 year of warranty with most of their laptops.

  1. Thanks for the insight. I’m needing a new laptop that will multi-task in Photoshop and Lightroom. I was leaning towards the Dell XPS 15. After reading elsewhere about quality control, reliability, and excessive fan and heat issues, I started looking at the Asus Zenbook 15. Seems to meet my budget and needs but the flip of the coin is what if something goes wrong? Sounds like Dell may be the way to go after all.

    • I just received a Dell Inspiron 15 2-in-1 Laptop 7506. I had to order it from Dell Canada because I couldn’t find a 2 in 1 laptop that met my criteria, part of which was for the computer to last a long time, have better than average display, 16 GB Ram and 1 terabyte of storage. Now I’m wondering if the $2,000.00 price tag gives me more computer than I need. Do you really recommend Asus over Dell?

    • Thank you, Scott!

We have one Dell XPS 9500 model in our office and it has never been as loud as many bad reviews say. I think only a small fraction of XPS owners have this problem – happy buyers usually do not write reviews or comments on forums at all. The Dell XPS series is perfect for every kind of work, and only a limited budget would make me choose Asus (which also is a good brand).
