By every indication, many people will agree with me that Apple Macbooks are fantastic devices. Even if you are not a fan of Apple devices, the awesomeness of the Macboooks cannot be overemphasized.

But why are they so expensive when compared to other laptops? In this article, I will discuss the major factors that make Macbooks to be more expensive than other computers and laptops.

What makes a Macbooks so expensive?

First of all, Apple devices are quite expensive (no doubts), and if you are not sure, you can research the market prices of various devices and compare the price of an Apple device with the prices of these devices with similar specs from another brand. The Macbook is generally considered as one of the top 15 inch devices that you can find right now.

Right now, the cheapest Macbook in the market is the new Macbook Air, and you will need to dole out up to 1000 to get one. It comes with a decent level of resources: the new M1 chip, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of SSD storage space.

A lot of people are not impressed with the storage capacity of the new Macbook air considering the price of the device. Now, if we compare the Macbook Air with another device from another brand, for example, the ASUS UX534 that also costs around 1000 but with more powerful resources.

The ASUS UX534 is equipped with 16GB RAM and storage space of 512GB which makes it quite better than the cheapest Macbook. Because of this, a lot of people are not joining the Macbook world because most of the time, you are paying more for a low spec device.

Although, I’m talking about the general components that make up a Mac which is the major reason why some people are not impressed with the device.

However, fans of Apple devices will tell you a lot of reasons why a Mac is expensive. Below are some of the reasons:

1. They are durable

This is one of the basic reasons why you should consider getting a Mac. If you take good care of your Macbook, I can assure you that it can last longer than any other laptop from any other brand.

Generally, the lifespan of a laptop is considered to be anywhere around 3 to 5 years. A Macbook device can serve you for more than that. Most Macbooks can serve you for up to 10 years without being outdated, which makes them more expensive to own.

2. Excellent Customer Service

One of the major factors that you need to consider before buying a laptop is the customer service of the brand and Apple has the best customer service.

If you have any issue with your Apple device, you can easily contact them online or you can go to any of their shops that are pretty much everywhere. There, you will meet their professionals that will help you to fix any issue that you might be having with your device.

They also have a good warranty cover for your Apple device: you can invest in the 4-year warranty cover that is available for your Macbook.

3. The components are more expensive/powerful

Apple laptops are equipped with components that are generally more expensive and more powerful than other brands like Acer, Dell, or Asus. So, you can expect the price of their laptops to be the same.

Even, if an Apple laptop and a Dell laptop are both equipped with a 1.7GHz CPU, it does not mean that they are the same. The Apple laptop will still be more powerful than its counterpart and last longer.

If you look at the components that are packed in a Macbook Pro, you will see that’s a lot better than that of a Dell laptop. The Macbook Pro will have a better screen and build quality, better speakers, and a more durable design.

4. They’re in demand

A lot of people feel that Apple Macs are costly, but the truth is that they represent value for money. Although Apple devices are not popular in some countries, in the Western world, they are really in high demand especially the Macbooks.

5. They hardly get viruses

One of the major reasons why a lot of people prefer Macbooks to Windows laptops is because Macbooks are less likely to get viruses. Although it’s always reasonable to have a good antivirus on your Macbook, I can assure you that your laptop is less likely to get infected if you don’t have one.

The reason is not farfetched: most viruses are created to attack Windows devices because they make up more than 80% of the laptops and computers that are produced in the Western world.

Another reason is that the operating system of a Macbook is based on the UNIX operating system which is more secure and more powerful than Windows. This means that even a high-end Windows laptop is still more vulnerable to malware attacks than a Macbook Pro.

6. Battery Life

I don’t think anyone will like to invest in a laptop with poor battery life: which stands tall as one of the major advantages of buying a Macbook. If you are looking for a powerful laptop that you can use anywhere for long periods without charging it, then you should invest in a Macbook.

Although, some Windows laptops are equipped with fantastic battery backup that can match that of Macbooks. However, Macbooks have an edge because they create the components and software themselves which makes it possible for them to maximize battery life.

Summary

Macbooks are indeed quite expensive but I’m sure a lot of people will agree with me that they represent value for money. You can always get a decent low budget laptop that will work for some years, you can trust a Macbook to work for much longer because of its excellent design and overall build quality.

However, they are still very expensive but if you are looking for quality, you should consider getting one.
